Well, my second-to-last day of secondary school was certainly exciting! Oh, not being at school, or even the Sport's Day, but what we came home to.

First we saw was on the road, with the blue flashing lights of an ambulance, the dumper on its side and stones across the road. Our gardener was opening the gates and mum wound down the window - Jim across-the-road had tipped the digger and was bleeding like anything. So we finish down the drive, and there's the sound of spinning rotors above our heads as the Devon Air Ambulance tries to find a place to land.

So, yeah - he was lucky, really - he could have been killed. According to Ernie, what happened was that he missed the gear on the last load of brickwork, rolled down the slope and then found that the brakes didn't work. Then he dove and... well, his arm didn't look too pretty after.

All the ones around with adjacent fields came a looking, mostly under the pretence of making sure the horses were all right with the helicoper, which goes to show what a bunch of nosy farmers we all are. My sister used her phone to take a vid of the Air Ambulance as it left our field. Remember: it's a charity that relies on donations, and doesn't get any help from the government. But we need it - a lot.

We seem to have run out of all liquids in the house, bar some cordial that smells of of pineapple and some rather suspicious cider.

Naturally, as an Englanderin just barely under the drinking age of this country, I picked the cider to have with my supper.

Before anyone tells me to turn on the tap and have a glass of water, you silly girl, I note that you haven't seen what comes out of our taps. *shudder* There aren't so many houses on our water line, and so there isn't enough draw to make it really drinkable.

In other news, I've been procrastinating on 524, Xiaolin Past and my hpslashnotsmut in order to write snippets of Sequel to: Time After Time. It involves Dashi being trapped in a puzzlebox (explaining why he isn't around now) by a very unexpected favourite character of mine and being released right before that battle, which is fun. Chase tries to make him change sides, and said unexpected favourite character of mine does change sides in protest. XDD

A snippet of epilogue? )
Correct: Correct orientation of Devon flag - we talk like pirates! Diagonal:Devonshire Icon by TamerTerra

There's actually a story behind these (totally gackable for any Devonian) icons.

And now I've been looking at maps for what seems like ages, I've lost all trains of thought. So, um. Icons. Icons pretty.
... and by that, I mean "February".

Yup, it's the coldest part of the year for us Devonians - rivalled only by "November". For some reason we get a break through December and January (can any geophysicists tell me why?), but then it snaps back down for this month and we get a hell-load of precipitation.

Bloody Global Warming. -_-;;

...

On the other 'February' event, I fail at fic. I'm here trying to do some Chase/Guan, but Guan's being all *angst* *angst* *codependent-angst* and getting on my nerves. *sigh* I'll just re-write it...

One tiny plotbunny later, and he ceases to be pathetic! *squees at strong and sexy yet insecure Guan* Show and don't tell, baby!

... Any volunteers for betaing this puppy?
...you refer to an event that took place several months ago as 'the other day'.

(As a note to myself, Lundy Island is 25km North and 25km West of Westward Ho! according to the OS map, so that means that 35km is nearly your limit for seeing land across the water.)

According to the state of my nails, I need more calcium. So have a totally non-organic recipe:

Apparently the big strong winds that we've had today were the tail end of a weak tropical hurricane. Yeah, I know - we don't get hurricanes in England. That's why it's worrying.

Also, I might just take the extra three modules next term and end up with four full A-Levels rather than 3-and-AS-Further-Maths. Not sure whether I'd take, though, for the third: FP3, M4 or D2.

EDIT: Looks like it wasn't the 'tail end' at all. *hears thunder*
