Did they even use the term 'Order of the Phoenix' in entire film? )

Anyway.

A-Level results day was yesterday, and I got three Bs in Maths, Physics and Chem. I also had a C in AS Further Maths and an A in AS Biology (last year). So I didn't get in for my first choice, St. Andrews, but I did get in for Physics at York, so that's all right!

Completely unrelated, but I have a fic recc: Switch by [livejournal.com profile] corvidae9. Fred and George Confound the Sorting Hat, resulting in just about everyone going somewhere else. Harry and Draco are Hufflepuffs, Hermione and Neville Longbottom are in Slytherin, Ron and Pansy become Ravenclaws... and Gryffindor!Crabbe and Goyle attach themselves to Hannah Abbot.

It's a full AU that's about half-way through PoA at the moment. The author has a good style - we're familiar with the general storyline, of course, and we can follow the action without getting bogged down with re-reading what we already know.

I like, with this fic, how the characters grow into the traits of their new Houses, Ron being the best example. He begins to 'own' the cleverness he does have, realising that he must have some if the hat put him in Ravenclaw, and the others follow the same sort of pattern.

So, yeah. If you like Sorting-AUs, read it.
All that squee over being spoken to post-'bisexual witch' bombshell? Gone. The only thing he could bloody talk about this afternoon was my bloody car.

Yes, my dad has an Aston Martin Vanquish. But there's no reason why I would have randomly brought it up (I at least try not to be a braggart), so why are the first words out of your mouth 'Why didn't youtell me that you had a DB9?!'

Ugh. Fuck off, thanks.

Maybe he's taking lessons in brashness from me (in which case, I remind you that I do not like to have my flaws mirrored back at me), but... sheesh.

...

To make me happier, I dug out the 12 characters meme again. Here's a version of the final question that I liked:

"One and Nine are in a happy relationship until Nine suddenly runs off with Four. One, broken-hearted, has a hot one-night stand with Eleven and a brief unhappy affair with Twelve, then follows the wise advice of Five and finds true love with Three." What title would you give this fic? Name three people on your friends list who might read it. Name one person who should write it.

With the names in:
"Chase and Jack are in a happy relationship until Jack suddenly runs off with Dashi. Chase, broken-hearted, has a hot one-night stand with Omi and a brief unhappy affair with Yun, then follows the wise advice of Master Jung and finds true love with Guan."

Everybody now: "Aw..."

*groan*

If yesterday wasn't bad enough, we got told this morning that there'd been a mix-up and that we should have gotten our exam results last week. So we got them today.

Cut for results which basically sum to: 'Drop Further Maths Or You Will Never Get An A In Normal Maths' )

I'm averaging a B, so at present, if I want an A in Normal Maths (which I do), I need to get 103 out of 90 for C3. *tear* So I need to figure out what to retake - FP1 is a given, as I need that for Further AS (which I already have an E in, so I may as well make it respectable for an elective), and, looking at what I did with M2 (28->57), it's possible. C3 is a probable; M1 might be worth it - even assuming that I can get C3 up to 80, C4 is supposed to be the 'hard' Normal A Level module, so I shouldn't count on it.

*groan* I have to decide which modules I'm dropping, and which I'm retaking, before tomorrow. I'll make tables and stare at them until a decision emerges. Need to add six UMS points to my average...

After conferring with the head of department, it's been decided that I'll retake C2, C3 and M1. I've asserted that as Physics 4 is on the same day as Mechs 3, I'll stay entered for M3. (They have basically the same content, with the Physics having some extra stuff and the Mechs explaining it all by Calculus). I'll stay entered for FP1, but it's unlikely that I'll take it.

Buggerfuck it.
And relaxing. I'm intending this to be two sets of eleven - one set focussing on the formation of a third TAT AU, and the second on the aftermath. *evil* Or rather: *conspicuously not-evil*

I've also discovered an uncommon love of the single aster-kiss (*). It breaks up sections, paragraphs, drabbles - it can do anything. *loves*

In other news, today was the annual festival of standing in the wind blowing and raining, hitting other girls with sticks. Also known as 'Senior Girls Inter-House Hockey'.

Lundy (my house) beat Tarka in points (but not the match, sadly), but we did not beat Atlantic. (No-one cares about Exmoor.) That's like Slytherin beating Gryffindor but getting pipped by Ravenclaw. -_-;;
First: The 'Tell Me What To Write' meme.

Second: Since when did aff.net have legal-babble? I have an account on that bloody site, even if only for review purposes. (And WTF is with turning the text of 'Terms and Conditions' blue when it isn't a link?)

And it would seem stupid to falsely put in a thing like that when I'll be 18 in 4 months anyway. So I shan't.

Hm... Third: I seem to have lost the summer-holiday pudge, finally*. I've now got enough to keep my kidneys warm, but not so much that my stomach can't pretend to be flat. (When standing. And haven't eaten lunch yet.)

Fourth: 6th Form has been locked out of the café (room with tables, toaster and kettle) because someone did something that involves teabags and orange squash. No-one really knows what happened, but there were a lot of sleepy 6th Formers queuing for the lower-school tuck shop, myself included.

It was all: 'But where will we go? What will we do? Oh no, what will we eat?' Because 6th Formers are like that. XD

Actually, people are like that. Take away something that they'd always assumed would be there, and they wander around aimlessly before finding something else.

*hasn't used this icon in a while*

*Yeah, I know. My version of slimming is 'Go to school'. Yay for walking between lessons and living off tea and school dinners? XD

I will be computer-less for a few days - my monitor is shot. And this 'a' button on my dad's laptop is too close to the caps lock.

People are stupid because... )

Next term is the National Squad selection in Birmingham. I won't get in, but it would be really funny if Sabine ended up on the German and British squads! Probably impossible, though. Mary-Rose might get in, or Deakes. And... That's all of the Actually English members in our Senior Squad. XD

Bye!

So I'm sorting out my UCAS application. I enter an institution code, go to the next box for 'course code' and go through the a-z list. Then I double check, triple check, and go to the Uni's website to make sure that I'm not just seeing things.

OMG. My =1 course? Isn't running.

*hyperventilates* )

And now I've having trouble finding course-codes for my York option... Gah, this is hard!

So...

According to my f-list, the 14th of September is Canadian Blowjob Day. *blink* Okay then. *writes*

However, it is also the day when TamerTerra decided that she was Not So Sure about her subject choice. Buggerfuck. Various branches of Engineering look good - and after Physics I can always Master in any of them.

Looking at the UCAS site now, there are 3 centres which do 'Engineering Physics'. They're all either in Edinburgh or Black Country. XD *orders a Loughborough prospectus to have a look*

And I'm reconsidering Oxford. After all, I'm not so far under the bar any more - AAAB in my ASs so far, Further Maths AS, AS German-learning-alone. What do you think? Would three extra AS-levels make up for my lack of A*s at GCSE?

...and now, as I haven't looked at the Cambridge site in over a year, I'm looking at it now. The Engineering degree there looks good, too. Hm... *does research* *is aware that she only has a month to decide*

WTF?

The 20 frees that I had at the beginning of term? Have been stripped down to 5. This term is going to be Hel.

'De Montfort University' is weird at spamming. They sent me a little USB drive in the post for no reason. They don't even do science or engineering, so I wouldn't be interested even if they do spam me.

ETA: (added on this one rather than the next one because, er, it's not really respectful. Like graffiti or something.)

While I was working on my personal statement (3000 of 4000 characters done, whoot!), I had another window open for the writely index. So I open that Chack scene and suddenly I have three plot-bunnies to type before they vanish from my head.

I've even got a better-for-the-one-shot ending - it makes it past!RaiJack rather than twotiming!RaiJack. And yes, that is shameless target-audiencing - why are so many Chack shippers OTP-ers too? It makes me sad.
My timetable is going crazy! Those free afternoons on Thursday, Friday and Tuesday? Swallowed by extra Maths.

Seriously. That's a triple lesson for D1 and M2, and then a double and a single for retake-practice. And we haven't agreed on the times for FP1 (Further Pure, the core module for AS Further Maths) or Mechs yet!

I am going to be overworked this term - I'm doing 6 modules of maths (C1 retake, M2 retake, C3, FP1, D1, and S1), starting a new language, popping into work, applying to Uni (can't forget that) and keeping up with Physics and Chemistry. *ded*

Though, that will mean that I only have five modules totalto learn next semester (if I survive), and half of those are coursework modules that are done in an hour. XD

^_^ I love it really, having a lot on. Might not do NaNoWriMo this year, though.
The Lowers aren't as bad as we thought they'd be. Sure, there's twice as many Lowers than Uppers, but they tend to clump together. And there's only one who is opinionated about music - Rosenrot played through until half-way through Zerstoren before getting changed.

Turns out that there's a fair bit of emo-hate, though.

Timetable: Yay for doing only three subjects (+ language)! 20 free periods a week! )

We haven't timetabled in our Mechanics or Furthur Maths yet, though. Or any of the potential languages (Ms. L says to wait until the 4-5 activity time has settled down before we sort Spanish out, Ms. D is asking about the German Students' timetable/lesson/required subjects - and if they're only staying 'till Xmas they don't need to do the contact or course anyway, we have to speak to the Maths teacher and have a meeting.)

So, um... Yay school!
In order of good-ness:

SubjectModule MarksOverall Mark
Chemistry(a)aaA
PhysicsbaaA
BiologyabbA
Mathsbbb, uB

I am seriously WTFing at Biology. I got a 'c' the first time I took the Foundation Module, and I've been getting 'D's in all of our mocks - how the hell did that turn into an overall 'A'?

I got about what I expected in the others. Maths was very rushed with the learning, and I hadn't actually finished reading the M2 book when I took that exam (that was the u). Chem was my guaranteed 'A'. Physics was up in the air, but I expected an 'A' or a 'B'.

After spending and hour and a half at school with Mez and Lottie, waiting for other people to turn up (after Mia and Hattie left, no-one did, though we overheard the phonecall to Zahra in Guadaloup), I went back to work to tell the folk at the office, had me lunch, and then shot off to East-the-Water for a singing workshop organised by Emma from 'Emma and the Professor'.

The girls from 'Ember' (Rebecca and Emily) turned up, a mother-daughter combo, the lady who runs the church and a festival-organisation bloke. I'll get up some recordings in a bit - not from the workshop, but the songs from it I've recorded afterward.

NowI'vegotaconcerttogotoandhaveytogoquickbye!

ETA: The show was great - there was a boy on first, and he was really nervy and it was cute. And he played the mandolin and sang about being in love with a married Blacksmith. The second woman - well, you could hear the substituted vowels whenever she said the word 'women'. Third we had Tony Truscott again (I bought his CD), and then last we had a dueting pair whose penultimate song was the best.
Refering, of course, to [livejournal.com profile] hpslashnotsmut.

My first scene is good; it's fine. However, there are still two more scenes, one of which is started and stagnant, and the other which hasn't got going yet. Yes, I'm doing them at the same time.

And I had no lessons today! Mr. Norris buggered off in Chemistry, and no-one turned up for Maths. But my first triple free was taken up by scribeing (the poor boy only knew one of the three main principles that the test was based on... oh dear), and we had to stay in the classroom for the double Chem.

So that left me the afternoon, and I'm easily distracted. *facepalmgroan*

I've given up Biology now. Now there's a month before the hols in which to learn half of C3, half of 'Chains, Rings and Arenes' and maybe a little bit of 'Furthur Physics'. I've also got to try to convince the Director of Studies to run German AS - if that one fails, I'll take Spanish GCSE (and try to learn an entire language in a year XD) and try for combined.
I know that, despite my full half-term of revision Biology, I've done badly in them. Mechanics 2 wasn't peachy, either.

Bio breakdown: Module 3 (Transport) was first, and I think that of all of them I did best in this one - though that's probably just false security. Module 2 (Genes and Genetics) was much the same - but in question 7a, the 6-marker, I wrote a lovely hit-all-the-points answer about creating transgenic bacteria. Too bad that the question was asking about the PCR, which I know next to nothing about. I just bulked it out with a sample log equation... Module 1 (Foundation), the retake, was the worst, I think.

Afterward, my brain was so fried that I couldn't revise - such a headache, with stingy eyes... I should have got a heyfever note.

Mechanics breakdown: M1 was lovely - the exams conditions were lovely. There were only two columns of us, all 6th Form, and it was so hot that I wasn't fevery. I was hyperventillating at the beginning though. XD

M2 was a monster. Same conditions, only there was only two of us, but the exam! I could do questions 3 and 4 all the way - question 1 I don't think that I finished properly, question 2 I finished in the last 20 mins, and questions 5, 6, and 7 I drew force diagrams and jotted, having absolutely no idea what to do.

Well, M2 is an A2 module. My first, actually. And the fact that I could do almost half is a good sign, right? Meh. There's always January.

Chemistry 'Ch&R' and 'HF, HF' tomorrow. My best subject - but I haven't looked at it yet. So after this is posted, and I've checked my email again, it's revision time!

Oh, and BTW - new Ouran icon! (WIP)
ljsecurity: public

It's mad, I tell you. Five frees yesterday, three today, and I've still only gotten through three chapers of the P1 book. And ch.7 is half of it. And then after that there's P2 and I don't know any of it! Heineman textbooks are very useful, though - now I get the stuff in those chapters, at least. Our coursebooks are useless (much like this school keyboard).

So now I have a timetable of sorts. Until the 22nd of May or I finish P2, whichever comes first, I do Maths in the frees when I have access to the library, Biology at lunchtime, and Physics and Chem after school. After that it'll be a bit more relaxed, as I'll have two weeks of Study Leave for a new schedule and no Pure Maths to worry about. During that time I'll start learning the second half of M2. After the Wednesday of the third week, It'll be all Physics. Yay.

You know, I ever forgot about my birthday with all of the prep. It's during the weekend after exams start, but I've asked for it to be postponed until the summer hols.

*sigh* And now I have to go, as I have another mock Chem (C&R) exam.

EDIT: Eee! I posted this using the remote-email-posting thingy, and it worked!

And now I'll just stick this queer meme on the end )

Meme stolen from Silvarbelle )
82. Not sure what it's supposed to signify, but...
http://www.livejournal.com/community/queer_rage/132042.html?thread=2096330#t2096330 XD

Well... yeah. Pure Maths is okay, and I think that I can cope, but Mechanics? That I'm going to have trouble with.

The class is split up into two groups with one teacher, at the same time. The Furthur Maths group (not me) and the AS Maths group (me). However, while the FM group is being taught the M2 module, the AS group is doing M1 past papers. Herein lies the problem.

Mary Rose and I have not done any of M1, and therefore are not ready to do past papers - it would be a waste of time. So we ended up sitting at the back of the classroom with Merry and Lottie's borrowed books (the teacher didn't know that we were coming, and so we didn't have our own books - so I cannot look over the M1 chapters now at home due to my lack of book) reading and generally not getting it.

*le sigh*

Ah well. I knew it wasn't going to be easy, and I'll have to work at it. Merry says that you need to get all of it before yu get any of it, which hopefully means that it'll just click.
