Blanket

Turns out that if you leave a blanket with sick on it in a carrier bag for nearly a week, you don't just have to get rid of the sick, you have to get rid of the mould which has grown on the sick. Yuuck!

I was going to use a washing up bowl, but running stuff straight down the sink is a bit required, I think, so I'm scrubbing with a cloth and shampoo in the sink, with nowhere really for the clean most-of the blanket to go. (I'm so glad that it's just the corner and the bit where the corner was touching a bit near the middle - I wouldn't want to be doing this for the whole thing!)

Yuck.

Also, gastric flu is a virus, right? So it doesn't just die off? I hope that having been ill already means that I'm immune...

Ugh, gastric flu. Whether or not you're immune depends on what it is. IIRC, Norwalk you can't get an immunity to (I've had it four times D: although each time was slightly easier to recover from than the previous) but there are other types that you can.

Pretty sure that the one that was going around was the Norwalk/norovirus one.

I think I'm partly immune to this strain given that I'd been around various people who got it during the stage when it's most infectious and didn't get ill. I got a horrific fever and the nausea a couple of weeks before everyone else, but not the full-blown thing. Reckon it's because I had gastric flu way, way back in the distant past of childhood (I got ill a LOT).

I think there's specific powder you can get for cleaning wool, alternatively just use a bit of dissolved washing powder on the spot.
