I will be computer-less for a few days - my monitor is shot. And this 'a' button on my dad's laptop is too close to the caps lock.
People are stupid because... Well. We had our 6th Form Xmas party last weekend, and I straightened my hair for it. Actually, most of the upper and lower 6th collaberated in the effort of straightening and styling my hair. XD Okay, not the point. As it happens, Tess was there.
For those of you who don't know, Tess is the best person ever to have at a party. She dances, like, all the time. If she is there, the floor is never empty.
As it happened, there were three people who wanted to dance all of the time: Me, Tess, and a new boy in the L6 who has been nicknamed 'Pumpkin'. I don't know why. But near the beginning, he was kind of swaying in my general vicinity and told me that he'd never really danced before. So I was all 'Just move!' (after, of course, being all 'Gosh, you're not so tall when I'm in heels!'), and kept up my little make-the-most-of-the-boobs-and-hips-and-heels-while-rememebering-that-one-has-arms-to-wave dance. Half an hour later... He was moving, all right. It was quite a spectical.
By that point, I'd had a Lemon and Lime and been offered Snakebite by an 18-year-old friend, and had begun to feel that I was being a bit repetative. So I'd started the partner circuit and been watching Tess (because she is awesome) and generally getting more confident. Ended up dancing with Pumpkin sometimes, as there was a fair amount of time when we were the only ones up.
Now comes the 'people are stupid' part. His crazy style was getting a fair bit of attention, and when there was a break (stopped moving to protest rap) Tess was all 'so are you going to get off with him?' and I was all 'WTF?' and Baz was asking him the same thing (substitute pronouns as neccessary) and was similarly shaken off. So I say 'People are stupid!' to which he agreed, and then people started trying to shove us closer together.
Got saved by the bell - the buffet was out and Kuda brought around the Hat of Names. All the girls had to pick a boy's name out of the hat, and then they would have to dance together for the next song. Mary-Rose drew Pumpkin (and ran far, far away), I drew one an L6 that Hailey had a crush on and swapped with her, ending up with one of the German students. He was all 'Dirty Dancing!' and I was all 'Okay!' so the next three minutes were spent trying to stay upright and trying to figure out where to put my feet so as not to heel anyone, to stay upright, and so to be dancing all at the same time. There are pictures. On the wall of the 6th Form Centre. *facepalm*
I eventually escaped for some more hip-free dancing with Pumpkin, and again there was the shoving. Gah. And then there was some random slow song that I dispised, but then there was that Robbie Williams one that I don't dispise, so I grabbed the bloke, and yelled the lyrics over his shoulder. Great fun - if people hadn't started getting their cameras out. Bah. Being the typical high-profile bullied youth, people tend to be all up in my affairs anyway, but they're so much worse if anything involves me and another person. The last bloke I danced with at a disco ended up leaving school and moving to Cornwall because he got teased so badly about it.
So now you know why 'the closet' as a state of being is such a problem for me to imagine. XD Everything I do is very, very public.
Back to the party. Getting fed up (and a bit tired) I went and got another drink, and while I was at the bar a circle formed around Pumpkin and he did his crazy dance. Being the exhibitionist that she is, Tess strutted over and did her trademark sexy-dance (as he tried to escape - ha! Of this there are also pictures on the walls everywhere. Either Deakes or one of the Germans was recording on his phone, too.). Against my better judgement, but rationalising with a she-did-why-can't-I, I joined in for a bit.
Everything cooled down a bit after that. Shoes were coming off all over the place, people were getting very hot and sweaty and tired, but still good songs were playing so I couldn't sit down, just dance a little more sedatly and in bare feet. And at 2330 I went home because I had Judo at 4 the next morning, and so disappointed everyone by not being there when someone decided that Pumpkin and I had to have the 'special dance' at the end. *inadvertant evil*
And today was spent squashing snog-centric rumours and trying to ensure a better post-ball friendship than Last Time. Y'all don't know about Last Time, though, do you? I didn't have an LJ then, and the internets are probably better off. Let's just say that it was the beginning of my suicidal wangst stage, the details of which I have mentally suppressed and did not, did not I tell you involve tents on DofE. Though I will admit to the wangsty songwriting.
On to a more happy subject - the Bristish Schoools Judo. Got up at 0400, left school at 0500, got to Wolverhampton at 0850, and then was stuck behind an overtunred lorry that blocked off all three motorway lanes for an hour. Ten minutes after it was moved, we were at the University, half an hour after that we were in the gym and weighing in. Once we were weighed in, our Senior Girls and Boys Mini-Mon teams were awarded Gold Medals because there was no-one else in the age groups.
Or perhaps the other Senior Girls teams were scared of our German National Squad member. XD One of the refs actually complained because the majority of our matside coaching was in German (Sabine yelling encouragement to Max and Felix) rather than English and he couldn't understand. Get ajob second language! And there was another ref who just said 'Ji!' for everything - instead of Hajime, instead of Matte, instead of Osacomi... The last two can't really be told apart from context, either, as they are orders of what to do from a position - let go and stand up verses keep the hold on. As evidenced by poor Felix not knowing whether he'd won or whether to hold on until the ref made himself clear.
Next term is the National Squad selection in Birmingham. I won't get in, but it would be really funny if Sabine ended up on the German and British squads! Probably impossible, though. Mary-Rose might get in, or Deakes. And... That's all of the Actually English members in our Senior Squad. XD
Bye!
