Heute Morgen sein Wir Um Halb Funf abfahren. *tote*

And my spelling is still atrocious, but the majority of you don't care. And my grammar is even more gender-confused than my f-list. XD

Ich habe mit Lehren vielen Kaffee und Kuchen gegessen. Because I was the only 6th Former, and so was practically a teacher myself. Or something. Except I had tea instead of coffee, because I'm too English or too working class or something.

Äh... Was haben Wir besucht? Today was Cité Europe (Calais), yesterday was Cochem Town and Castle (with Wine tasting), day before was Rudesheim, Bad Salzig and a short river cruise (our school has this thing about the Loriley rock - we always visit it) and Monday was travelling up.

Also... Es war sehr toll! ^_^
I just got a review. (It's always sparked by that, isn't it?)

The review )

My reply )

Am I being fair? After all, the majority of ff.net fanthings *are* American, but targeting an audience of American teenagers who don't even know the variations in their own language does seem to be selling out more-than-a-little-bit.

And really: Does it make that much difference for a fanthing to be picturing a rugger ball rather than a football? Generally I try to use non-ambiguous words anyway, and I don't want to lecture on 'Football is a game played by two teams, both of which are trying to get the ball to the other end' and that the variations are 'soccer football' with a round ball and 'rugby football' with a rugger ball and one country decided to shorten one one way and one the other and the other country did it the opposite way around, because I have no interest in football of any description and he knows what kind of balls Raimundo plays with and that I'm British so is it really that hard to figure out what's meant?

*deep breath*

Bah Humbug.
This made me have a little think.

How many of you, on my f-list, have or are learning a second language (or third, fourth, etc)?

I mean, I'm learning German (as you'll rememeber some of my moans at the language department of my school for phasing in GCSE Spanish instead of allowing people (read: me) to continue their German studies). But I don't think that I've ever heard mention from any of you about anything on that side of things.

On the "only use english words in english fanfic summaries, don't say yaoi say slash" argument:

English randomly nicks words from other languages all the time. That's part of what it is. Every country that we've conquered visited, we took some words with us when we left. When the French were here, they left half of their volcabulary behind. So did the Romans.

Does anyone call you us for 'fangirl french' when you use the word 'pork'? Hey, 'pig meat' is the original way it was in English! No wait, 'meat' was French too.

How about most of fandom, with the German word 'angst' (Ich habe angst fur... I'm afraid of)? We (or rather, you - I've never seen it used in fandom-comtext before the internet) use it as a tag word akin to 'emo'. How come that doesn't get you blown up at?
Lol! Folk, try this: take one of your fanfics, and Bablefish it into French, then German, and back to English. Actually, consider yourselves tagged. ^_^

O_o I must have a lot of time on my hands...

Oh, and the English to French turned Omi into OMI and Clay to Argile, then the French to German 'translated' Rai to Strahl, Jack to Klinke and Argile to Laum (and Kimiko aquired 'nicht' before her name), and then the German to English turned Strahl to Jet, Klinke to Handle, and Laum to Loam.
Blah. PCness must be out of contol if one cannot discriminate créme brulé.

Even in Old Usage. -__-;;

I should be working on my fanfic. I've written the first chapter, I've written the end, and I've scripted the Rai/Jack bit. Now it just needs typing - and the middle bit is the part that is directly affected by what Wuya says to Raimundo in the next chapter of this arc.
