You know...
Jul. 7th, 2006 08:27 pmMy fandom life has been relatively long, but I've still managed to entertain the delusion that the people I know in a certain fandom were there with me since the beginning, and managed to follow on and keep up. That blatently isn't true.
Of the people on that very first hyperboard BB, I believe that I am still in touch, somehow, with about six of the seven. I had discovered ff.net through the Teen Titans fandom at TvTome, and suddenly the entirety (or so I thought, then) of my new, titcher of a fandom was there posting. Haunted Flower got me into Slash (Rai/Jack was actually the first ever slash pairing that I ever read, and so it holds a special place in my shippy hearthence the smut I just wrote; Oh my!), and a fair number seemed to follow (if not there already), if not fully into Slash, into Smarm (Remember the 'Batty Bwoy' potion? Hil-AR-ious. Was that you, Jadey, or krums? Or both of you?).
However, those small few now aren't the entirety of the fandom anymore. I can't expect people now to have read my first ever XS fic (or to read it now when it starts off with 8 pages of an OC following Raimundo around as the first arc) - it was started in 2004, too, when my writing wasn't as good.
For one thing, I've learnt to spell Raimundo's name. I've also learnt, and practised, the use of commas and semicolons. I can even use who and whom correctly!
Hence the rehaul. When I've done the last arc WIP style, it'll be edited, corrected, and another-synonym-for-edit-ed, and the page breaks will vanish to give one chapter when there were nine (or at least, where there were five). Mandy will be useful (or not - she's pretty damn un-sueish for being the third or fourth OC in our baby section. Her main trait is being a distant descendant of Jack - this was planned when I liked het, obviously.) In short: it will be readable for folks who weren't at the same stage of fannishness as me at the same time as me.
Now, whether this is a relief-post about I-don't mind-if-you-read-it-not-or-later or an attempt to draw your attention to the fact that I have updated this fic with a un-cut bomb of text, that's your call to make. ^_-

Those were the days, weren't they? I miss my small fandom, along with TV tome...
