Title: The Other Dream Stalker
Genre: fSlash, mindfuck
Pairing: Katnappe/Kimiko
Length: Short-short
Summary: Deep in a certain Egyptian river, Kimiko waits for a nightly visitor. A one-shot based on a longer fic that I'm working on.

Kimiko whipped around in the darkness, eyes darting from side to side, searching. Just in case, she told herself. Might not come tonight. Probably won't. Kimiko had a fairly good idea who had stolen the Shadow of Fear – and it wasn't Jack Spicer as the boys thought. She couldn't work up the courage to tell them who, or how only one of the villains had the right silhouette. It was ironic, really, how a girl so courageous in most aspects of life would be shy about this one little thing.

Why she had chosen to target her out of all of them? It wasn't really a question that she wanted to have answered, especially not now, when these dreams were throwing up confusing, contradicting ideas in her head, hindsight onto childhood memories that she didn't want hindsight into... Even if Katnappé didn't return tonight, she still wouldn't get any sleep.

She suddenly heard the hiss of an indrawn breath, somewhere. Kimiko's heart began to beat faster; doki-doki. A fog had sprung up while she hadn't been concentrating on her dream-scape, and now a more malevolent hand was directing the chess game. Kimiko couldn't see anything.

“I can't panic,” she said out loud, and immediately wished that she hadn't. The sound at the same time reverberated around her skull and was swallowed into oblivion, which made her feel rather nasty. She patted her sleeve. In one of these dreams, checking  that your clothes were still there was the equivalent to pinching yourself in normal dreams if they were gone, she was there.

They were gone.

“Panic about what?” came the voice in her ear, honeyed in a manner that was quite unlike its normal timbre yet still the same, with the same smugness beneath the surface. Eight long fingers were suddenly wrapped around her bare shoulders, holding her still before the tall blonde lept back into the fog and away. Kimiko could still hear her chuckling, but couldn't even begin to pinpoint from where the sound came. She saw a shadow move out of the corner of her eye, but as soon as she moved it was gone, hidden, watching. “Panic about what?” the voice repeated, this time sounding as though it had been put through a sci-fi audio filter. “Panic about what?”

Kimiko tried to slow her breathing. Hyperventilating wouldn't solve anything, though it might keep her real-world self unconscious. She didn't want that.

All at once, she felt arms circle her waist and lips touching her cheek... It was suddenly dark again, and Kimiko could only just make out the twinkle of two eyes as the lips trailed across to find her mouth, kissing with a chaste kiss and no tongue, starting gently. Before she knew it, Kimiko had returned the kiss and was already groping. She forced herself to stop. One shouldn't grope people who are trying to intimidate you in dreams, she told herself sternly. Especially if they were other girls. The thought echoed through the dream-scape, making Kimiko's eyes widen in horror.

Katnappé scowled at her. “Who said that I was trying to intimidate you?she asked, before pulling the Shadow of Fear from behind her back and evaporating.

Come back!” Kimiko yelled into the ether. She jumped when it echoed and wondered why she'd said it, fearing that she already knew the answer.

Katnappe/Kimiko does hold its charm...and I liked the way the Shadow of Fear was used here. Christ, I did giggle when you wrote that Katnappe's voice sounded like its put through a sci-fi audio filter

*squee* Thank you so incredibly much!

The SoF is one of those SGW with a lot of potential, I think. Much like the Two Ton Tunic... Ah well. ^_^
