I thought that Xiaolin Showdown was immune to this, but since Chase Young appeared fangirls have started writing fanfiction with bad grammer and spelling. And then asking for ideas in reviews.
Maybe I worded wrongly - the pairings wern't Chase ones. Mostly Rai/Kimiko/Jack or Rai/Kim vs Rai/Kat vs Rai/Wuya - at least, that's what I've seen so far.
Actually, a while back I got a review to the random fic that I did a few months ago saying that they "didn't agree with Kimomi (not flaming or anything)". Well, that isn't my favourite pairing either, but I just put that Omi liked the pairing. He was the only one, though.
I get it now. But pairing wars are common in a lot of fandoms. But seriously, don't these people have the sense to use spellcheck and read their fics out loud?
For my fic, I'm avoiding Rai/Kim. I find that pairing to be platonic. Maybe in one of my next entries, I should discuss my thoughts on XS pairings...
On the Rai/Kim, I have Kimiko be a tad jelous of how much time he spends (through neccessity) with Katnappe, and have Katnappe taunt her with it - but that's the most of a pairing that I write, at least nowadays. Used to do some "It's a formal event - You have to have an official 'date'" thingumys, but, yeah. Not quite the same.
I mentioned fangirls writing crappy fanfics about Chase very briefly in one of my Chase Young rants, mainly how I didn't want to BE one. I'm struggling to write a fic about/with Chase. Struggling. I really want to write a decent one. I don't understand how you can put a fic up on ffnet without having any idea of where your fic's going. How can you write a story without an idea or two to start off with? Boggles the mind. If you don't know what you're doing with your characters, you need to quit while you're ahead. You shouldn't write just because Chase Young is "cool but hot" and the greatest thing since sliced bread.
*yells* Put a plot in the story and write using proper English, goddammit! You're ruining our lovely little ffnet section with your nonsensical Chase crap!
Rant over. It's not like I've been to ffnet recently and seen the badfic(s) in question, but still...
It's only started appearing in the last few days, really. I've been leaving a lot of concrit, and at least one author has started to pull up a bit - she is now spelling most words right.
Hmm, so there's hope after all. I just don't want the section to get too big - unless the fics are genuinely good. I don't want new crappy ones making the section too big to wade through.
But what I want and what I get are two different things.
We have nine pages so far - and one of my fics is on the 2nd from the back. I like the section being small too - it means that there's an off-chance that someone could still read them. And at the moment there's probably about 90% good!fic there, and I'd hate tyo see that go down.
I don't even know where my LD fic is. I think it's on the 8th page too. *checks ffnet*
It's certainly gotten bigger. Sorted by publish date (not update date) my LD fic is 12th from the very last (i.e. very first) XS fic. At first there wasn't even an XS section, but now there's nine whole pages. I think the season 2.5 cliffhanger created a new wave of people wanting to write "what happens next," similar to what happened with In the Flesh, so there's been a rise in the no. of new fics recently. Let's hope it doesn't get too big.
On the other hand, if we reach 500 fics, we're allowed to ask for one of those sections-for-each-individual-character things... I think it's 500, anyway.
