Original Post: I'm trying to make my extremely relgious people actual people and not just extremists. So, I'm looking for your experiences with the very religious of any religion. Feel free to tell me about you Pagan Religious Zealot grandmother or your newly converted hardcore fundementalist cousin or anyone. Why are they so religious? How does this religiousness manifest? Does it affect their/ your daily lives? school? socializing? eating? You have any funny stories? They have any personal tics?

There's a pair of them at my school - one from a family of Born-Agains (she explained to me once how you could be born into a born again family and still be born again, but I don't rememeber), and the other a recent convert.

The first one is pretty tolerant outwardly, but if you say anything counter to her beleifs (e.g. "We're going for pizza with my brother and his boyfriend, want to come?") then she gives this odd little wince/frown and refuses to speak to you (or changes the subject).

We used to have a lot of debates about such things, but she's given up trying to convert me, now. (after five years...) She's pretty much accepted that she's not going to change my mind, hence the subject changing vs arguing.

The second girl is a recent convert to Christianity. She's still at the 'bring bible into school and push it in people's faces' stage - though she does it less often than she used to. She's also not as good at acting tolerant as the first girl, and (to use the first example) if you said to her "We're going for pizza with my brother and his boyfriend, want to-" she'd cut you off with "Homosexuality is a sin (or alternatively 'Eve, not Steve') and then stalk off.

*has gotton lots of plot bunnies from typing that out*

Also, I'm having trouble catagorising my fic. At te moment it's in 'Chick lit and Women's fiction' but I don't think that it fits.

This calls for a new LJ-cut.

Literary Fiction
Mystery
Romance
Erotic
Sci Fi
Fantasy
Horror
Spiritual and New Age
Young Adult
Chick Lit and Women's Fiction
Historical
Other

Those are the catagories. Now I need to pick one.

In the plot I have outlined so far, my MFC is betrothed by her grandmother to a rich bastard's bastard grandson, who was 'seeing' a lower class boy before becoming aware that he was due to be married. He angsts about it, but then his new wife slaps him round the head (metaphorically) and tells him to get on with it - she doesn't care whether he's faithful to her or not.

However, the boyfriend is also a right jelous bastard, and beats my MFC up. To avoid a scandal, the grandfather breaks off the impending wedding and sends her away. This leads to her having a heart-to-heart with her grandmother, uncovering some of my world-building politics (XD).

And that's the short version, one major character cut out, and unfinished. There's a few random sex scene for characer building purposes - what would you say the genré was?

Thanks, I'll need it! ^_^ I'm aiming for 20,000 words rather than the whole 50,000 - but who knows?
