So, Alex's flatmates go skipping, and have obtained large quantities of cabbage, parsnip, and potatoes (less of the potatoes - they've been in that box a bit long, I think). As they all have to be out of their rooms by tomorrow morning, these ingredients have been passed onto me as I'm staying in York, and so I must do something with them.

Stew contains all of these things plus meat and swede and onion, and I'm sure that parsnip soup is allowed though making it tasty might be a bit beyond me. Roasted parsnips in maple syrup make the best dessert ever if you're in the mood for it.

I have about eight large parsnips and a cabbage and a half - please give me some ideas of what to do with them!

Reinforced Pie!

This is beef pie, for IRON, with cabbage in it, for MORE IRON. I have only made it once and it did not come out in a recipe-worthy form but the concept is sound. I just need to work on the details some more.

Failing that, cabbage can be stirfried? Or just eaten by the bowlful by way of being a delicious thing?

I, um, really like cabbage. And related vegetables.

Also, you do not have excessive skipped vegetables until your housemates decide that if you find ten swedes, you must harvest them all. And tithe one to the vicar.
NINE SWEDES.
I had words with them about that. Words along the lines of "They are not less wasted if they rot on our windowsill instead of in the bin. No more swedes!"

Interesting. I have only succeeded at gluten-free pie once, and that was a quiche, so obviously I need to practise more. Corned beef and egg and cabbage in a pie? Perhaps with onion? This sounds like something that could become a success to me - provided that I can succeed at pastry again, of course.

These guys might have excessive potatoes. They have a box full, far too close to the end of term, and they've started to go green anyway.

Cabbage is indeed a tasty thing. That's why I already had the half a cabbage before they gave me another one. XD
