tj_roweThe first time I've been sad about the fact that I'm not going to graduate with my year. Moira's just sent out an email about scheduling group photos. :-(
I guess I should be graduating with James' or Mike's year instead, though, so it's not all bad. I mean, as long as I get back in to uni, I should finish, even if I finish crap-ly.
What I think I'm doing is: Coming down to York this weekend (29th/30th May, end of week 5), staying at least until the weekend after that (5th/6th June, end of week six). The weekend after that (12th/13th June, end of week seven) I should be back up here for the next bit of the D&D game, and the weekend after that (19th/20th June, end of week eight) is the wedding, and I'll be down in York because Steve'll be on holiday.
The weekend after that is the 26th/27th of June, end of week nine, and the Wednesday after that is the thirtieth of June and the date we have to move out of our house.
A good plan for that Wednesday looks to be washing bedsheets in the morning, getting the last of stuff into storage, and overnighting somewhere else and getting on a train the next morning down to Devon. (I'm not starting a six hour journey in the afternoon. I'm just not - and if I left earlier in the week, I'd still have to wash things before I left.) This will probably involve getting up quite early, and depending on housemates and when they're planning on doing stuff and what resources are available to us all, possibly doing the washing elsewhere.
The weekend after that, term is ended!
I dislike the thing of, for student lets, going from 1st July to 1st of July. When there was a group of eight of us throwing our weight around, we could go 'no, we want August to August, thanks'. Yes, it's good to be able to move straight from Uni accomodation to off-campus with some overlap, but so often at the end of the let people are trying to move during term-time, which is no good. At least with a gap between lets you can stuff your stuff into storage, but if you don't have anywhere to sleep during term time, and you're in one of those subjects (like Chemistry, say) that have exams in week 10...
I guess that's part of the reason that you can rent university accomodation for a week or so during exams, or running over the end of term. By the summer term that'll generally have had more people drop out than have been replaced by waiting lists, too.
