That. Was. EPIC.
Aug. 13th, 2009 06:09 pmBest weekend ever. I'm not even looking forward to Renewal, I'm still in froth mode. This is the first internets I've had since coming home. AHHH!
Calling strikedown on things that were immune normal or calling stupid amounts of damage. Mostly the fights against Black Dog and Avitus, where it was basically Sidskin keeping golems off of us, me strikedowning the things calling death and keeping them off of the rest of them, and Taivus hiding behing his shield and healing us up when we inevitably got dropped.
Team Non-Human might actually work just as well as Team Scout. Did get the feeling of 'woah, goblins/scalekin think like humans' a fair amount, but that just added to the roleplay awesome. Oh, and eating outside in the dark. And frothing about this goblin that we used to know, Colsgeg (Jeff's old character), while Jeff was sat there with his back to us. Hee.
Guardian. Having a random NPC keep wandering up and telling you that you're weird and awesome every so often does just put a swagger in the step. Hee! And that and Cleavor (IC glowstick! Share!) put me in a mood where I could cope with what happened next in such an awesome way. Also, getting to roleplay with Nathaniel like that. And finding out what 'ish' means.
Ahh! Kaska! Ahh!
I'm really glad that the way Claw has of dealing with stuff like that is already established. She isn't going to angst, but it'll take a bit of getting used to. But the thing of being listened to was awesome - even if everyone else (even Taivus *facepalm*) was ignoring it.
Hmm, what else.... The walk in in the dark, with Graeme's goblin, and following behind Taivus sneaky in the dark, and Kaska keep getting separated from us (to the extent of walking into the enemy camp with all the humans) and hiding from fights and going 'Woah, I really am a Ratkin. Huh.'
On the Rat thing, it was nice to have such a range there. There were the stupid, crass rats who brought us food, there was the fairly sensible and cautious Rat-Speaker (Scraf?) and talking about the difference between survival as a Jackal and survival as a Rat, and there was Raze at the end going 'we have to fight against this all together if we're going to survive.'
Also, the many and varied cries of 'Humans!' When me, Kaska, Jenny's Badger and the two Gazelles (including the one stupid enough to stick her hand in poisoned plot-goo) got together and started on, there was just this epic time of cameraderie. Oh, and dragging the aformentioned Gazelle back to fix the fire that the humans were trying to light, and:
'Right, how are we phys-repping this?'
'By actually building a fire?'
'...What?'
'Yes.'
'Wait, all that stupid stuff - the guy nearly setting his hand on fire - that all really happened, out of character?'
'Yes!'
[a few moments of awed silence, then shocked laughter]
'Humans! They- Just- Humans!'
We then get to the firepit, and she gets it lit and burning in about three seconds. XD
Everything was awesome.
Working out a solution ('knock her out') to a problem, working out ways of achieving that solution, talking to people to get it done - multiple people, actually, as the mages couldn't do it in one shot because of the armour (Arkady wasn't there, IIRC), and I had no idea what varied spells Feodor knew (most of mid-level is missing from my knowledge, but I know of the stupid powerful and not-powerful enoughs, and what Feodor /threatens/ to do to people) - and getting it followed through on... It was awesome. I /did/ something. It might not have been epic, or correct, or even appropriate (though, servering some auric connections temporarily doesn't seem to be /that/ much overkill), but I fixed on a course of action and followed through on it. I think I was right in saying that I'd never have done that two years ago - probably not even a few months ago.
Only thing I'd pick at would be how long the food was there - next time, we should have some of the flapjack or fruit or whatever kept in the camp for picking at (I know the kitchen wasn't far away, but there was (small, but still there) risk of monster attack on the path, so you went to the loo as quickly and quietly as possible, and quite frequently didn't think about picking up a slice on the way down). And we'll know where the standpipe is, too, so water will be more readily available.
Though, people being hungry Saturday afternoon meant that we ended up going with 'Me' for food. With some Adventurers going 'But we need to fight the Clarion Order and raid their supplies!' and the other half going 'But we're HUNGRY!' and the hungry lot winning. XD
Peanuts, too, actually. Salt is one thing we couldn't easily top up on except at the evening meal. I was shocked my how much better I felt on the Monday (after the ...thing, Sunday evening) when I just ate loads of really salty food. Possibly things like oranges, too.
Was awesome knowing that I couldn't carry the water pot, so getting the golem to carry it to the tap and back. And next, WORLD DOMINATION! ^_^
