The Riddles and the [Spoiler]s

It just occurred to me while going over this subject on the ff.net PM system: Teddy Lupin isn't a parallel to Harry (parents dead) or Neville (lives with grandmother), but to Tom Riddle Jr himself!
Harry and Neville parallel each other because their parents die or are driven irreparably mad protecting them. Tonks and Merope, however, take the first way out that they come across to get away from their newborn children, and Tom Riddle Sr. and Remus Lupin didn't really want anything to do with them in the first place.
Merope, as we know, bled out after giving birth to Voldemort, giving herself barely an hour to fill out minimal paperwork for the orphanage and possibly work some Lily-style enchantment with her dying blood to prevent her family - the Gaunts - from finding the son that she thought would be as un-magical as she was, or perhaps to keep him vaguely protected while he was at the orphanage.
I reckon that Tonks escaped from under her mother's watchful eye, perhaps convincing someone else to provide a distraction, as soon as she heard that there was a battle taking place, and didn't tell anyone (except the distraction-maker, who was promptly stupify'd when she'd done her part) where she was going. Then, after she'd excused herself outside the Room of Requirement, she ran out, found Remus's body, and fought madly without bothering to dodge or shield against curses from either side.
That said, at least Lupin appointed a Godfather for Teddy (token gesture of appeasement though it no doubt was), and Tonks didn't run away from home. Although, that would be 'the basic' - Merope dragged herself to an orphanage so that her son would have a place to live, too.
And the names!
Tom Marvolo Riddle: Father's first name, grandfather's first name, father's surname.
Theodore Remus Lupin: Grandfather's first name, father's first name, father's surname.
So perhaps the 'pointless deaths' weren't quite so pointless as they first appear. Perhaps.
