Um, no we're not: An anecdote.

So we're watching the news, and there's this bit on Muslims in a hospital and the Doctors and patients praying in this room. About the hospital being proud to be religiously diverse or something, and the challenges that they face regarding that. I'm not really sure what I was thinking at the time - not thinking, most likely - but my mother just comes out with "Well, they should just tell 'em that they're in England now, and we're Christian!"
Immediately I pipe up with "Um, no we're not," and exchange a look with my sister - after all, (
xxicenickyxx) is an Atheist and her I'm Pagan. If either of us I.D.ed as something with 'Christian' in its name, there would have to be a neglifier in there somewhere.
Mum scowls at that and continues about how she sees them up at the factory go out and do that - "Nobody else goes out whenever they want!" And I'm like: "..." I start speaking, but decide against it when I think that I haven't thought out my argument properly.
Gah. Just goes to show that you can't get complacent about this sort of thing.
