I completely ignored the second part of the question, and so my only thought is the memory of me and five of my housemates from Starkey, a year before we all moved in together (along with Tom and Ivan), three weeks after we'd met, all sat in Ben's bedroom listening to Iron Maiden and Rammstein and eating take-away, having given up on homework hours earlier.
