*bows down to exeter*
Apr. 23rd, 2006 06:13 pmNow, that is helpful! Exactly what sort of things one expects from the course (in terms of modules). And it's three Bs, as well, which means that it's a good candidate if I feel myself slipping short of the AAB/ABB needed for St. Andrews (which I already do, which regard to biology. I'm quitting that, and can expect comfortable Bs in Phys and Chem, so the Maths really needs a pick-up if I'm to have a hope.)
But really. The key to good advertising of education is to have everything available. Warwick has been scratched off my list due to people generally being incompetent with their handling of giving out prospectuses of all things. If you can't handle a bloody prospectus, how can we expect you to handle four years of edu-ma-cation, eh?
So, 'reasonable effort' (as the report card puts it) will land me BBD(C), as it stands. Slightly more, proportionate effort'll get me ABC(B), which is 300 points and 'just' enough for Exeter (the local uni). But what I really need is hell-loads of effort to get up to the required-for-St.Andrews AAB.
And now I have made an Access document-spreadsheet thing, I can see that it is possible to get into St. Andrews on BBB if I take an MEng and enter at Level One (rather than Level Two, which requires AAB). The course that I'd poke for that would be 'Microelectronics and Photonics,' which is a joint MEng that is half at St. Andrews and half at Dundee.
And I'm applying to Oxford, just for the hell of it. XD
It does worry me slightly, though, that all of my favoured courses are after As and Bs. If I don't achive at least 300 points (BBB or ABC), then I'm going to be in Clearing, even if I have like BBC or something just short like that.
