DH Spoiler policy: I'll use the initials of their given names, not surnames when referring to them, or put it under a cut. Except Teddy, because he exists pre-epilogue and 'TR' is already taken (Tom Riddle, XD)

I've seen a fair bit of meta about AS/S (God, I love that acronym!) and S/R - the new first years at the end of the series are being shipped already. But I can't pick, and neither do I particularly want to pick. One's het and one's slash, and there's something that squicks me a bit about making the choice based on that only.

Where they're Sorted would have a big impact on their interactions. Should S be a Slytherin and AS and R go to Gryffindor, we might end up with 'Draco + Trio: the repeat'. That doesn't really appeal to me. Other combinations, however, do.

Albus Severus is easily the most developed of the 'offspring' (as I've seen them referred to as), even if it mostly consists of being a first year and being worried about Slytherin. I'm almost convinced that he's a Parselmouth, actually, which could be why he is so convinced that he'll go there. I read more Slytherin!Harry fic than Gryffindor!Harry - and I think that Albus could be in the same position of going either way just as easily. And, of course, he hasn't been prejudiced so completely against Slytherin, so I'd tip for that way.

Rose is 'solemn' when the younger siblings and the Weasley parents don't quite take the House concerns seriously, and this makes me think that she might not be a complete Gryffindor either. Compare Ron and Hermione on the train in PS to Rose on the platform - I'm liking her for Ravenclaw, Hermione's 'back up' House.

Albus Severus already has a brother at Hogwarts, Rose is an eldest with at least two (James and Victoire named) elder cousins, and Scorpius seems to be an only child.

In the same way that it's conceivable that a Weasley could be (gasp!), not a Gryffindor, a Malfoy needn't be a Slytherin - the Zeitgeist has changed for the Wizarding World (Driving Licences?!). I still like him for Slytherin, though - I don't think the Blacks need another Sirius. *was one of those who flinched terribly at The Sacking Of Grimmauld Place*

You could make a case for Scorpius going anywhere, though - it really depends on what exactly happened to the Malfoys post-war. Did they regain all land and title when the Death Eaters were evicted, or did they become suddenly penniless because the Ministry seized everything? Did Draco and Harry eventually become amiable (the curt nod suggests that they're at least civil)? Did Lucius go to Azkiban, or was Narcissa's helping Harry pretend to be dead enough to keep them all out (Scorpius' age and existence suggests that Draco wasn't imprisoned, or at least, wasn't for very long)?

I like the idea of, rather than AS/S or S/R, a new Trio. Not a Gryffindor Trio (with AS, S, or both in Slytherin, how could it be?), but a trio still. I like the idea of both AS and R trying to befriend S after Ron's comments - but separately, not really wanting it to get back to The Family. XD

I'll stop trying to meta now. Maybe.
