Well, today's been good - not only have I made headway with SlashNotSmut, I've finished the 'backstory' chapter of Another Time/Eleven Misplaced for the second universe. An alternate titles could be 'In which Wuya and Chase react completely differently to their warnings, and Dashi doesn't get any good moments' XD
I can't decide whether it should go before or after Omi's next chapter, though. On the one hand, you could be just as confused as Omi but I'd repeat myself. On the other, you could know things in advance... *ponders*
Anyway, here's the full version of #9, which I couldn't even try to strip down, so I rewrote for the drabble-series:
*
Chase Young stared in horror as the Leopard Temple burned. Hannibal Bean landed beside him.
"Bootiful, ain't it?"
Chase half-turned, then focussed with his newly-slitted pupils. "You did this?"
Bean chuckled. "Shea and the Witch, that's what you said. Well, Shea surely perished in that fire, and we'll be heading to the Xiaolin Temple next. Isn't this what you wanted?" The last was said with the malice that only one so practised at amplifying one's petty jealousies so horribly could pronounce.
"This is not what I intended!"
"Oh, didn't you? So sorry... I think that if you look deep inside your soul-" Bean chuckled again "-you'll find that this is exactly what you intended. You don't have to hide your true desires from me, boy - set loose your true inner evil."
Chase Young clenched and unclenched fists that were beginning to transform. "I should have taken heed of what the small one said," he whispered bitterly before rousing himself. "Fine, then I will speak my true desire! I wish for you to be gone forever from the world of the living!" He pressed his hands together for the form.
Bean hopped back. "You don't know what you're-"
"YingYing Portal!"
The boiling anger did not subside when the Bean was trapped, and the fury that Guan saw when he discovered his half-transformed friend's face was enough to convince him of his worst fears. He opened his mouth, but another figure emerged from the shadows. Guan recognised her as Wuya, the Heylin Witch that had visited them a cycle of years ago, and had defeated Dashi two summers previously.
He let himself relax for a moment. Such a notoriously wise warrior would surely know the best way to challenge this, he thought calmly.
Then he realised what the scene must look like.
"I'll show you what happens to those who destroy Heylin Temples!" She held out two boxes, one in each hand.
Twin flashes of light later, and Guan was floating in purple.
