Still working on the Neville-as-TBWL AU

5500 words after two days! *punches air*

Heheheh, Wormtail is so evil... For the sake of symmetry, I should really have him or Remus in Azkiban, but I don't think it would fit - unless someone points out that Remus was the only one not attacked by Bellatrix.

And I finally gave in and wrote Hermione's Obligatory Train Scene, intending it to be the same as an imagined one in the canon universe - I have her run into a Slytherin-to-be who helps her with the Platform, and then, when the STB has turned her off to Slytherin, meet Neville Longbottom. But in this world, of course, Neville is TBWL, so her OTS is more like Ron's canon one. Or, some mashing of Ron and Harry's canon ones.

Hm... I've stuck Ron in with Harry, the same as canon, but I'm making Harry a Slytherin (because of Theo being nice and 'Uncle Peter' trying to turn him off of it). Where will that leave Ron in the Gryffindor friend-circuit?

Also, I've set up a Peter-parallel within the current generation - Sophronia Roper, Slytherin, whose parents were muggleborns. She insists that this does not make her a muggleborn, and that, despite being offensive, 'mudblood' is actually accurate. Her 'friends' (namely, Theo Nott and the half-blood Tracey Davies) refer to her as a muggleborn anyway when talking in blood terms, because of the aforementioned 'mudblood' being offensive in their non-Malfoyish circles. She gets PO'd, and we know how this kind of thing turns out. ^_--

... Did I mention how weird my minor Slytherins are? I've got Theo, who refuses to be associated with his father's DE activity (hence the common line 'call Theo Theo not Nott'); Roper, a 'muggleborn'; Tracey, who's a halfblood but takes over the 'Slytherin Girls Gang' anyway while Pansy isn't looking (or rather, is looking, but at Draco); Daphne, who insists that she 'makes the effort' but still treats Roper as a pet project and potential slave; and Blaise who just plain doesn't care.

They're fun to play with. *shrug*

*goes to sleep now*

Also:

Dear American Harry Potter Fanauthors,

The word you are looking for is porridge. Porridge. Not 'oatmeal'. Porridge.

Thank you ever so much,

Tamar Rowe
