He'd always thought that Dumbledore could protect them.

Fifth year had proved him wrong, though. His girlfriend had been petrified, as had his little brother's second-best friend... What had Dumbledore done? He'd let himself be taken away, and hadn't stopped the attacks.

He'd kept believing, for a while. Dumbledore would do something before anything else happened, and the attacks would... stop.

The Minister had at least tried to do something, even if it wasn't effective.

But when a second-year boy found the Chamber of Secrets, killed the basilisk and rescued his sister, Percy lost all faith in Dumbledore. That shouldn't have happened.

In which Dojo returns, Master Monk Guan is alive and Wuya makes reference to interior decorating )

...

Kimiko-with-evil-female-role-models = fun. ^_^

I almost pretended to 'kill' her (2nd-universe!Kimiko) off this chapter, but decided against it. There's still too much to play with.
Well, today's been good - not only have I made headway with SlashNotSmut, I've finished the 'backstory' chapter of Another Time/Eleven Misplaced for the second universe. An alternate titles could be 'In which Wuya and Chase react completely differently to their warnings, and Dashi doesn't get any good moments' XD

I can't decide whether it should go before or after Omi's next chapter, though. On the one hand, you could be just as confused as Omi but I'd repeat myself. On the other, you could know things in advance... *ponders*

Anyway, here's the full version of #9, which I couldn't even try to strip down, so I rewrote for the drabble-series:

*

Another Scribble: Chase seals away Hannibal Bean, but loses. )
I've got strip about 250 words down to 100. Why did I decide to do this in drabbles?!

This particular one does four things: Say 'Ha! He's alive and your boss!', infodump on the culture, display classic Dojo melodrama, and involve the crack of Wuya talking about interior decorating.

...

I could chop some of that, or I could just say 'this one is 250 words for no reason'. I'm thinking that other bits are too long, later on, so maybe it could be a gradual evolution thing? Breaking out of the drabble form to symbolise... uh... I've got nothing. Damn.

Stripping it is, then!

I other news, have a PoV scribble from the Dashi of the third universe. It'll not go into the fic, but it's the scribble I did when I was all angry.

Dashi flailed out with the wind, trying to lay a hit - any hit! - on his former best friend. )
All the chatting I've been doing about the TAT AUs lately has sparked off another fic universe - first Omi mucks up the going back in time, and when he goes back again he takes the Raimundo of the parallel universe to help. This little scene is post that Raimundo becoming a wangsty little bugger about it. ^_^

And as it's just that rare for me to write RaiKim, I thought I'd post it up as a scribble. I thought it was quite sweet.

Title: Long Time Gone
Author: TamerTerra
Characters: Jesse Bailey and the proto-Black Vipers, Clay Bailey
Word count: 976
Lyric-cut credit: from the Dixie Chicks song 'The Long Way Around'.
Author's Note: The first draft of this was lost when my laptop was flattened, but I think I've got this reconstruction as good as it can be, even if it's a fair bit shorter. Do note that I'm basing a bit off of the assumption that sheer rurality is fairly similar everywhere, so yell at me if I've not Americanised enough or included something that applies to rural Devon but is utterly wrong for rural Texas.
Summary: Jesse ups sticks and leaves home for the first and last time.

I've been a long time gone now, maybe someday, someday, I'm gonna settle down- )

Word Count: 1212
Author's Notes: This was written for [livejournal.com profile] muniyeka in the 1st Annual Winter Challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] chase_omi Timeline-wise, it could be AU, but it might not be. In either case, it's a day or so after Omi is turned into a cat and Chase begins taking over the world Revelation-style. Warning wise, there's about two lines referring to a previous Chase/OFC thing.

It occurs to me that I haven't been very forthcoming in the fiction department for quite a while. The whole last page of my LJ has been about kezboards and revision and Cambridge and 524.

So here's a Rai/Clay pre-slash scribble. Kinda. 430-ish words.

It was after a long day of training that Clay found himself being shaken awake... )

I was planning to make a longer thing out of it, but now I don't know if I'll get around to it. So, here you go! ^_^
If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fanfiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post exactly one sentence (or more) from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favourite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else -- this is merely to whet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s).

Fic snips x 8 )

... I just spent the past few hours going through some of my old notebooks for these. XD

Sadly, I can't find any of the rest of 524 - I was writing directly onto the computer that commited suicide. It's still a WiP, though.

ETA: The new fic at [livejournal.com profile] raibicycle is hilarious. And this is from someone who doesn't tend to like fluff. XD

EATA: Does anyone else have a writely account? It's still in beta at the moment, but it looks like it has the potential to be good for things like betaing and co-editing.

I've decided to post little bits of writing in my LJ as they happen. Then I can see how I improve.

The Spare Heir? No Thank You.

Andromeda Black had never seen eye to eye with Regulus. He swallowed Walburga's vices whole and spat them back at her, none of his own, when she spoke of the Muggle friends that she had made in London, disregarding her own opinion as if were nothing compared to his precious mother. Sirius would have been a much better husband. Produce the future heirs for the Ancient and Most Noble House of Black? With Regulus? Feh.

She wasn't having any of that. Her 'filthy muggle' companions were much better for her.

You know...

My fandom life has been relatively long, but I've still managed to entertain the delusion that the people I know in a certain fandom were there with me since the beginning, and managed to follow on and keep up. That blatently isn't true.

Of the people on that very first hyperboard BB, I believe that I am still in touch, somehow, with about six of the seven. I had discovered ff.net through the Teen Titans fandom at TvTome, and suddenly the entirety (or so I thought, then) of my new, titcher of a fandom was there posting. Haunted Flower got me into Slash (Rai/Jack was actually the first ever slash pairing that I ever read, and so it holds a special place in my shippy heart hence the smut I just wrote; Oh my!), and a fair number seemed to follow (if not there already), if not fully into Slash, into Smarm (Remember the 'Batty Bwoy' potion? Hil-AR-ious. Was that you, Jadey, or krums? Or both of you?).

However, those small few now aren't the entirety of the fandom anymore. I can't expect people now to have read my first ever XS fic (or to read it now when it starts off with 8 pages of an OC following Raimundo around as the first arc) - it was started in 2004, too, when my writing wasn't as good.

For one thing, I've learnt to spell Raimundo's name. I've also learnt, and practised, the use of commas and semicolons. I can even use who and whom correctly!

Hence the rehaul. When I've done the last arc WIP style, it'll be edited, corrected, and another-synonym-for-edit-ed, and the page breaks will vanish to give one chapter when there were nine (or at least, where there were five). Mandy will be useful (or not - she's pretty damn un-sueish for being the third or fourth OC in our baby section. Her main trait is being a distant descendant of Jack - this was planned when I liked het, obviously.) In short: it will be readable for folks who weren't at the same stage of fannishness as me at the same time as me.

Now, whether this is a relief-post about I-don't mind-if-you-read-it-not-or-later or an attempt to draw your attention to the fact that I have updated this fic with a un-cut bomb of text, that's your call to make. ^_-

Here we are, prep-ing for NaNo... I keep wanting to write. MUST WAIT UNTIL NOVEMBER!!! Tenko keeps telling me how pretty autumn leaves are, Mark wants to have Jody now, and Jody keeps moaning to me about his grandfather. Ashley is the only quiet one of my characters, and even she's poking me to write!

So I've written a Xiaolin Showdown slashy one-shot. I'm not telling you the pairing (but one of them is my new OTP XD), but it isn't chan or kinky, so don't worry about that. ^_^ It's really too dialouge-heavy, but oh well...
