Folk.

So, after discovering that other folk-ish band that I posted the link to a little while ago, I decided to check up on my other pop-folk crush - Seth Lakeman. And they're doing a show in Scarbrough a week before my birthday! That is, on my sister's birthday. Hmm.

...I could totally go. Couldn't I? It's £20 for a ticket, but it's Seth Lakeman. And it's a seated show, so no getting bumped and such (well, we'll all get to our feet for some songs, no doubt!)

My first exam is in week one, and this would be Thursday week three. My other exams are in week six and seven. Should I? I think I should. It's a direct train from York to Scarborough, and IIRC it's only a couple of quid. Anybody want to come too? Not just Yorkites, though we'll be closest. It's Seth Lakeman!!!

All in iTunes (.m4a) format, sorry. ^^; - if anyone ever downloads these things, anyway. I know I never do - it always seems to me that people prep all these playlists that no-one ever listens to.

Speaking of things that people never listen to: "IS ANYONE OUT THERE?" It's downright odd to upload a chapter of XS fic and have complete silence for... three days? Woah, it seemed so much longer...

Edit, as I recheck my email: [livejournal.com profile] muniyeka? You certainly know how to make a girl happy at two in the morning. ^_^ *sets to proofreading*

In which Tamar pokes her WiPs with meta, authorial intent and foreplanning )

And now, I will sleep.
I've had the windows open for most of the day, and now my room somehow smells like incense. O_o Must be the scented candles on the sill...

Exams are over! And I think I failed FP1 less badly than I did for M2 in summer! (Must have got 30 marks, at least...)

Does anyone know if the Atreyu song "Her Portrait In Black" (from the Underworld Evolution soundtrack) was ever released at all? It was supposed to be on the "Deathgrip On Yesterday" album, apparently, but it was either left off of the UK release or my sources were engaging in wishful thinking.

*Searches Wikipedia* Looks like it's on two items - The very new (as in, released this week) 'The Best Of Atreyu' CD/DVD, which has the music vid; and the Underworld: Evolution Soundtrack.

*ponders*

Depends which gets to the music shop in Barnstaple first. ^^; And if I get hold of 'The Curse', it'll be the Soundtrack because of the ITOOIDH factor. (It's The Only One I Don't Have)

*caves in and Limewires it* *While she's got the program working (not because she is a download h0r), grabs some MCR and Enter Shikari. And Lacuna Coil. And Bif Naked* *starts to admit that she might be a download h0r after all*
I have a choice now: blog about it, or put my guitar into drop-C and scream about it.

*starts de-tuning*
But I've thought of a way to apply Decision Maths to fandom. Namely, to fic exchanges.

...

The C1 exam went well. I spent most of the morning before helping Lizzie Jury with her curves (ha!) and gradients and things, which I counted as revision anyway. And then there was question 9c. Oh, it was hell. 'Verify that k satisfies the equation (3k + something)(k + something)<0' Wut? 4 marks, lost - and another 2 on 9d - and just like that I've probably lost my chance at an A. Buggerfuck it.

...

I showed my song lyrics to my guitar teacher today. He read, then he grinned, then he started saying about how I had to bring in my acoustic so that he can show me how to put it into drop-C (rather than drop-D, which we use now) and I can start setting up some riffs. Squee!

I have /got/ to learn basic acoustic composing skills before I go to Uni. I have /electronic/ composing skills (which got me my pass in GCSE Music), but I'm crap at grabbing an instrument and banging out a tune.

Heh, until the Folk Festival and this holiday-composing-spree, the last time I tried writing lyrics was during my emo-before-emo-was-cool stage. XD Lots of 'Oh just kill me now!' stuff. XD Good job I learnt to turn my anger on other people instead of myself... Well, good for me, at least.
Dear Diary,

Have blown Christmas Money on CDs.

(This would be very very bad if I'd got more than a tenner. As it was - Yay summer factory job, bulk-buy discounts and student discounts!)

If anyone wants CD rips... )

ETA: The track 'Rookie of the Year' on the FfaF one won't rip.

It's weird how everyone seems to have gone off of Trivium since 'the crusade' came out. I mean, maybe I'm a no0b, but I like Heafy's new vocal style. 'Anthem' was the song that drew me to the band in the first place - I bought (and loved!) Ascendancy to fill in the time until Xmas. And the Kerrang! 2006 CD with 'Detonation' was icing. There's an interview with him in Kerrang!...

Yet still, Rammstein and Seth Lakeman have the most songs in my library. ^_^
Linty, I can than you for my new 'really really gay playlist' as I've titled it. It's your fault for putting me onto Pansy Division with your AMV ages ago.

But it was me that went to their website and grabbed all the free mp3s that I could, and then slapped them together in a playlist with Rammstein's 'Zwitter' and 'Mann Gegen Mann'. ^^ (Note to self: Actually buy CDs if they are ever found).

And I totally finished the C_O challenge fic, and alpha-read it, and sent it to DM before the power went-off-and-came-back-again. And still watched 'The Island' with the parents (creepy). Oh, and did anyone see 'Doom' yesterday?

Um... Yay life? And throw anything you want at me, 2007! Hee ya!

Shopping!

Because I need mags and new CDs to read/listen to on the coach.

If anyone wants me to upload anything, I now have:

  • The new Scissor Sisters album (Ta-dah!)
  • The first two Rammstein albums (and the other three, but I didn't buy them today)
  • Panic! At The Disco : A fever you can't sweat out
  • Atreyu : Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses

I also got the latest issues of New Scientist, Scientific American (STFU) and Kerrang!. And for books I have 'The Red House', 'Good Omens', 'Temeraire' and 'Dune Messaiah'. And I'm bringing my Physics notebook and an FP1 past paper.

I should think that all that will mean that I'm 'working' hard enough to avoid speaking to the Fourth Former that will inevitably sit next to me. XD

(Also, my spelling skills seem to have deserted me. My apologies)
In other words, the technician came over and fixed my desktop. So I have permanent-if-limited access to the net. Yay!

On the laptop )
On music - list of new CDs )

If anyone wants any of those tracks, tell me and I'll upload them.

On work )

On 'How the hell am I meant to start my third and fourth languages if you won't let me even continue my second?!' )
I just went through the files that I still have on my website (from before LJ, lol), to upload this (if anyone was after just Mala Mala Jung, In the Flesh, Days Past and Citadel of Doom, here's your chance while I'm seeding).

And the things I found! Me singing an original song at 14, a really ancient Teen Titans Evanescence AMV that I made, one of my GCSE compositions (I still like that one, actually)... So much randomness. Too bad that I didn't upload the AMV I used to have that was actually good - that one will be trapped in my old computer, never to return.

And while I remember that I do indeed have a website: I have a more recent musical project - from just before christmas - and yes, all of those voices are me. ^_^

ETA: I expected there to be some love for [livejournal.com profile] xsrarepairs, at least! *wibbles at 'members: tamerterra' being that entire line*
My giddy aunts, would you look at this!

The Life of Mary Sue indeed. That gel has some voice.
